For energy-intensive businesses, such as those in the cold storage sector, there has never been a better time to review the impact that AI and automation can have on your energy strategies to ensure maximal resilience, cost optimization, and increased sustainability.
Upgrading and modernizing some of the elements of an existing refrigerated warehouse, and using the right technology for the right application, are essential to creating a world-class refrigerated warehouse. Join the Chairman of Industrial Logistic Systems, Martin Bailey, as we look at the factors that drive the development of an ideal cold store facility.
This session was part of GCCA’s Digital Learning Essentials series. It originally aired on June 29, 2021 and was hosted by GCCA South Africa.
There are unprecedented changes in the cold chain, challenging the way we have been designing, developing, and operating cold storage facilities. Introducing higher levels of automation in your cold storage facility could be the key to overcoming these challenges. Join NewCold Advanced Logistics’ Jonas Swarttouw as he discusses the advantages of automation and the evaluation to go through when determining the right level of automation for your cold storage facility.
This session was part of GCCA’s WFLO Institute Webinar series (now Digital Learning Essentials). It originally aired on November 7, 2019 and was sponsored by Tippmann Innovation.
There are several factors to consider when implementing automation into temperature-controlled logistics. Financial investment, impact on talent, and the commitment of customers are all important aspects to evaluate and may vary based on facility location.
Join this session to hear firsthand from NewCold Logistics, leaders in automation, about their implementation process, why they chose to insource automation oversight and expertise, and challenges and triumphs they faced along the way.
This session was part of GCCA’s Virtual Innovation Program, which aired from October 14-November 10, 2020, and was sponsored by Vapor Armour. This session has been approved by the Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA) for 1.0 Professional Development Hours.
As COVID-19 continues to impact global supply chains with unprecedented challenges, companies are looking to automation solutions to increase efficiencies and resiliencies. The presenters will discuss the latest cold storage automation technologies available, including automated storage and retrieval systems, how to determine the level of automation that will enable you to respond quickly and accurately to market conditions or unforeseen disruptions like COVID-19, and where and how to apply automation to get the maximum return from your investment.

Learn how the innovative new warehouse navigation system at the InterChange Group’s cold storage facility uses Jungheinrich semi-automated forklifts with embedded RFID chips in the facility floor to track the lift truck’s location, both vertically and horizontally, to within millimeters.
The system directs the forklift to the exact next pick location with one push of a toggle; the speed and accuracy of the system, eliminating the need to scan barcodes at each location, has increased productivity over a manual system.
